About Student Sanctuary

Student Sanctuary Acacia was built on a simple belief that every student deserves a place where they feel safe, welcomed and truly at home.

Our story began in the 1960s, when a young Julie made her first investment, a small farm she co-owned with her mother. Even at thirteen, she showed a rare instinct for nurturing both people and places, a quality that would shape everything to come.

Years later, as international students started finding their way to Australia, Julie recognised something many overlooked: the need for genuine care. Long before “student accommodation” became an industry, she opened her doors and created warm, supportive homes for young people navigating a new country. She looked after both the building and its residents with unwavering dedication, fixing what needed attention, welcoming late-night arrivals, and offering reassurance when distance felt overwhelming.

To many, she became a host mother. To all, she became a source of comfort, stability and kindness. Acacia carries this spirit forward.

Today, guided by Julie’s children, Timothy and Samantha, Student Sanctuary Acacia continues her legacy of care with thoughtfully designed spaces where students can study, rest and thrive. Our communal areas encourage connection, collaboration and friendship, while our private rooms offer the calm and comfort needed to recharge.

More than accommodation, Acacia is a sanctuary, a place built on compassion, resilience and the belief that every student deserves to feel at home, wherever they come from.

    When will Acacia open?
    Acacia is scheduled to open in Semester 2, 2026, with updates shared as we move closer to launch.
    What room types will be available?
    We’re finalising the room mix now, but expect a selection of cozy private rooms, modern shared layouts, and a few premium upgrades. Full details will be released soon.
    What facilities will Acacia have?
    Acacia will feature a mix of study-friendly spaces, communal areas, and student essentials. A full list of amenities will be announced closer to opening.
    How much will rooms cost?
    Pricing is currently being finalised. Join the waitlist to receive early updates on weekly rates and available lease terms.
    How close is Acacia to Monash Clayton?
    Acacia is located just a short walk or ride from the Monash University Clayton campus, perfect for everyday convenience.
    What is included in the rent?
    Full inclusion details are still in development, but Acacia aims to offer simple, student-friendly pricing with no hidden extras.
    Will there be tours or inspections?
    Yes. Once construction progresses, we’ll release tour dates, virtual walkthroughs and inspection times.
    How do I apply once rooms are released?
    Applications will open online through the Student Sanctuary portal. You’ll be able to select your room, upload documents and secure your place in a few simple steps.
    Do I have to pay a bond and how much?
    Yes. A bond is required as part of securing your room. The exact amount for Acacia will follow Victorian rental regulations and will be confirmed closer to opening. You’ll receive the full bond details before signing your lease.
    When will I get my lease agreement?
    Once rooms and pricing are released, successful applicants will receive their lease agreement via email. You’ll have time to review all details before making any payment.
    Can I book in advance?
    Yes, Acacia will allow advance bookings once applications open. Joining the waitlist ensures you’re among the first to receive booking dates, room options and early availability.
    Can I book if I don’t have my visa yet?
    Yes. International students can submit an application before receiving their visa. If your visa is not granted, your payment is fully refundable, giving you peace of mind while you plan your move.
